The Chairman’s Message

Medical imaging is mandatory for the clinical management of all kinds of diseases, including diagnosis of the disease, pre-treatment planning and monitoring of post-treatment outcome.

Interventional radiology is an image-guided minimally invasive treatment procedure that plays an extremely important role in the acute treatment of many diseases such as stroke, internal bleeding or traumatic bleeding, various kinds of benign or malignant tumors, and vascular diseases.

The Department of Imaging and Interventional Radiology is dedicated to provide a platform for top class clinical service, research, and education in imaging and interventional radiology.

Our diagnostic imaging team provides a comprehensive clinical service for a full spectrum of clinical specialties for public as well as private patients, covering all kinds of imaging modalities including radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasonography, mammography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and positron emission tomography. Our interventional radiologists provide a comprehensive clinical service of a full spectrum of interventional procedures for public as well as private patients, for the treatment of cerebrovascular, cardiovascular, oncological, visceral, vascular, obstetrical, gynecological, urological, and musculoskeletal diseases.

The department has a team of clinical academic staff who are devoted to clinical research in imaging related to neuroradiology, hepatology, head and neck, oncology, gastroenterology, musculoskeletal conditions and pediatrics. Our non-clinical scientists specialized in biophysics and magnetic resonance imaging are devoted to non-clinical researches in the development of innovative imaging technologies including new magnetic resonance imaging sequences.

We have been active in research in interventional radiology, including development of procedure techniques and establishment of treatment technologies for the treatment of diseases in all the specialties related to interventional radiology, especially cerebrovascular disease and oncological disease.

We always have a strong belief in the importance of the knowledge of radiology in clinical practice, we are therefore much dedicated to the teaching of undergraduate students in the form of lectures and small group tutorials. We have also developed a Master Program in Ultrasound and a Diploma Course in Interventional Radiology, which have important roles in the postgraduate education of the respective disciplines in the society.

You are welcome to visit individual sections of our website in greater detail, to get to further understand our staff and our research and education programs.
