Prof. TENG Gaojun Delivers Lecture on Interventional Radiology in China

The 16th Lecture Series by Academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was successfully held on 25 March 2026 at the Prince of Wales Hospital. The event was jointly organized by the Department of Imaging and Interventional Radiology, the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, and the Office of Academic Links (Mainland and Regional).

The lecture, titled “Current Status of Interventional Radiology in China”, was delivered by Prof. TENG Gaojun, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a renowned expert in interventional radiology. He reviewed the historical development of the field in China, its current clinical significance, and future prospects.

Prof. Teng shared innovative technologies and research achievements based on decades of clinical and academic work, including the development of radioactive seed‑coated stents for cancer treatment, advances in interventional and immunotherapy for liver cancer, as well as emerging applications in interventional robotics and metabolic disease treatment.

The lecture concluded with a lively question‑and‑answer session, fostering discussion on clinical practice, research innovation, and cross‑disciplinary collaboration. The event highlighted the University’s commitment to academic exchange and advancement in medical research and education.
